Sustainability
Responsibility for the Future
We grew up in an environment where material recycling and the careful use of natural resources were essential. As a result, we are deeply familiar with—and genuinely concerned about—the issue of sustainability.

Sustainability has always been part of our philosophy and way of life across generations. We have been involved in forestry, agriculture, and the ownership of properties and private businesses for decades, which has given us a strong sense of responsibility for the use and maintenance of natural resources, including freshwater supply and energy consumption. We are deeply familiar with—and genuinely concerned about—sustainability and its many applications in both everyday business operations and private life.
Our large real estate company is based in Stockholm and the surrounding areas. We focus on sustainability issues where we can have a direct impact, and through their implementation we aim to contribute positively. To reduce the environmental impact of our properties, we prioritize energy efficiency, water conservation, and other green initiatives. Ultimately, our sustainability plan will reduce energy costs across our properties and minimize their carbon footprint.
Our Sustainability Initiatives
Here are some of the many measures we implemented years ago to address key sustainability challenges.
Installation of energy-efficient appliances
Replacing old, inefficient appliances with new energy-saving models is an effective way to reduce tenants’ electricity and water bills while also minimizing emissions from power generation. Upgrading to Energy Star–rated models that are verified to meet specific efficiency standards set by the European Commission and other international energy authorities is standard practice for us.
Use of sustainable building materials
Using sustainable building materials is another important step in making our properties more environmentally friendly. Wood and bamboo are sustainable and energy-efficient materials commonly used for walls, roofs, frames, and flooring due to their strength, durability, and renewability. The use of sustainable building materials helps reduce the environmental footprint of our properties.
Implementation of water-saving measures
Water conservation is an important aspect of environmentally responsible property management and a top priority for us in creating green, sustainable rental properties. Installing low-flow fixtures—such as low-flow showerheads, toilets, faucets, dishwashers, and other water-consuming appliances—is one of the most effective ways to reduce water usage and is standard practice within our company.
Installation of LED lighting
This approach was implemented several years ago, as LED bulbs and fixtures became increasingly available. Fluorescent bulbs contain mercury, which can contaminate landfills; LED lights, on the other hand, are up to 80% more energy-efficient than other types of bulbs, last longer, and are generally brighter. In all of our properties, the vast majority of bulbs and fixtures are LED-based.
Landscape architecture
We take energy efficiency into account when designing landscape features and selecting the types of greenery to establish. Large areas of grass or plants that require excessive watering are avoided in favor of species that are well suited to our climate. This is important for long-term viability and helps prevent the need for replacing plants each year. We also avoid the use of harmful pesticides to ensure a healthy environment for our tenants.
Recycling
All of our properties provide recycling facilities close to residents’ homes. Offering recycling stations to our tenants encourages a more sustainable way of living.
Ensuring that rental properties are as sustainable as possible requires effort not only from the landlord but also from the tenants. For this reason, we maintain an ongoing dialogue with our tenants about which materials can be recycled, where they should be recycled, and why recycling is important. This helps make our tenants more aware of their environmental impact and more inclined to engage in sustainable behavior.
Our work to implement measures that maintain and enhance a sustainable environment is ongoing. We remain open to new technologies and ideas that help us strive for better living conditions for our tenants while reducing the environmental impact of our properties.
